On Thursday 8th August at 20:48 Sheena Parmar from Addlestone gave birth to her second child, a healthy baby boy, named Dylan, who was the 3000th baby to be born in the Abbey Birth Centre at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey. Dylan was delivered by Midwife Angela Affinito, weighing 6lb 6oz.
Sue Tranka, Chief Nurse at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals, and Deputy Chief Nurse, Andrea Lewis, presented parents Sheena and Sachin Parmar with a gift containing a pamper set and a beautiful baby grow and blanket marking the special occasion.
The Abbey Birth Centre opened on 1st October 2014 and was purpose built to provide a ‘home from home’ environment for women who have uncomplicated pregnancies and want to give birth in a less clinical setting. There are four en-suite birthing rooms, three with pool facilities, and a small outside garden. Run by midwifes with a homely and relaxing setting, where women can move around freely during labour, the centre offers a unique setting and individualised service in an environment that allows women and their families to experience birth in a supportive and safe place.
Dylan’s mother, Sheena Parmar, said: “Everyone on the team was so amazing. I had my first baby here too and my brother’s two children were also born here.” Father Sachin Parmar said: “Special thanks to Angela our wonderful and efficient midwife.”
